Squirrels
Squirrels is the Scout section for Boys & Girls aged 4 to 5.
At Scouts Bromyard, our Squirrel Scout Drey meets on Thursdays from 5:30pm to 6:30pm, during school term times only.
The Drey offers a programme of fun filled activities both in the hall and around the community, including games, hikes, community work, outdoor adventures, water sports, visits, sleepover camps and parties.
In Squirrels we prioritise fun, friendship, adventure and learning through play. Squirrels learn skills for life and build confidence to progress to Beavers after turning 6 years old.
New Squirrels
Squirrels join at the beginning of each team, and will make their scouting promise at the investing ceremony after attending around 4 sessions. New Squirrels can wear normal clothes for the first few sessions, but should wear uniform once invested.
Parents can stay at first to help their child settle in, but all Squirrels should be independent eventually. Parents are asked to volunteer to help, which is an important part of keeping the Drey open.
Uniform
The uniform for Squirrels is a red Jumper, which can be purchased from the Worcester Scout Shop or online. You don’t need to buy a necker or woggle as one is presented after your Squirrel has made their Squirrel Scout promise.
Four badges are awarded as part of being invested. After that, badges are presented at the end of each half term. The below diagram shows where badges are placed on the uniform. Blue “Staged Activity Badges” have a number on them to show the stage achieved. Only the highest number awarded should be worn on the jumper, lower numbers must be removed.
