Beavers
Beavers is the Scout section for Boys & Girls aged 6 to 7.
At Scouts Bromyard, our Beaver Scout Colony meets on Tuesday from 5:30pm to 6:30pm, during school term times only.
The Colony offers a programme of fun filled activities both in the hall and around the community, including games, hikes, community work, outdoor adventures, water sports, visits, sleepover camps and parties.
In Beavers we prioritise the core Scouting values of Fun, Friendship and Adventure. Beavers learn skills for life and build confidence to progress to Cubs after turning 8 years old.
New Beavers
Beavers join at the beginning of each team, and will make their scouting promise at the investing ceremony after attending around 4 sessions. New Beavers can wear normal clothes for the first few sessions, but should wear uniform once invested.
Parents can stay for the first session to help their child settle in, but after the first session should not attend every week. Parents are asked to volunteer to help a couple of times each term, which is very important to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
Uniform
The uniform for Beavers is a turquoise Jumper, which can be purchased from the Worcester Scout Shop or online. You don’t need to buy a necker or woggle as one is presented after your Beaver has made their Beaver Scout promise.
Four badges are awarded as part of being invested. After that, badges are presented at the end of each half term. The below diagram shows where badges are placed on the uniform. Blue “Staged Activity Badges” have a number on them to show the stage achieved. Only the highest number awarded should be worn on the jumper, lower numbers must be removed.
