Scouts

Scouts is the Scout section for Boys & Girls aged 10.5 to 14.
At Scouts Bromyard, our Scout Troop meets on Tuesday from 7:00pm to 8:30pm, during school term times only.

The programme offers fun filled activities both in the hall and around the community, including games, hikes, community work, outdoor adventures, water sports, visits, sleepover camps and parties.

Scouts learn a range of practical skills encouraging independence and community impact before progressing into Explorer Scouts after turning 14 years old.

New Scouts

Scouts join at the beginning of each team. If moving up from Cubs they will be given the chance to attend both sections before moving up so they know what to expect. New Scouts can wear normal clothes or their Cub Scout uniform for the first few sessions before fully joining Scouts.

Parents can stay for the first session to help their child settle in, but after the first session should not attend every week. Parents are asked to volunteer to help a couple of times each term, which is very important to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

Uniform

The uniform for Scouts is a green shirt, which can be purchased from the Worcester Scout Shop or online. You don’t need to buy a necker or woggle as one is provided by the group.

Four badges are awarded as part of being invested. After that, badges are presented at the end of each half term. The below diagram shows where badges are placed on the uniform. Blue “Staged Activity Badges” have a number on them to show the stage achieved. Only the highest number awarded should be worn on the jumper, lower numbers must be removed.
