Cubs
Cubs is the Scout section for Boys & Girls aged 8 to 10.5.
At Scouts Bromyard, our Cub Scout Pack meets on Monday from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, during school term times only.
The programme offers fun filled activities both in the hall and around the community, including games, hikes, community work, outdoor adventures, water sports, visits, sleepover camps and parties.
Cubs learn a range of practical skills with emphasis on Scouting values and the Cub Scout law before progressing into Scouts after turning 10.5 years old.
New Cubs
Cubs join at the beginning of each team. If moving up from Beavers they will be given the chance to attend both sections before moving up so they know what to expect. New Cubs can wear normal clothes or their Beaver Scout uniform for the first few sessions before fully joining Cubs.
Parents can stay for the first session to help their child settle in, but after the first session should not attend every week. Parents are asked to volunteer to help a couple of times each term, which is very important to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
Uniform
The uniform for Cubs is a green Jumper, which can be purchased from the Worcester Scout Shop or online. You don’t need to buy a necker or woggle as one is provided by the group.
Four badges are awarded as part of being invested. After that, badges are presented at the end of each half term. The below diagram shows where badges are placed on the uniform. Blue “Staged Activity Badges” have a number on them to show the stage achieved. Only the highest number awarded should be worn on the jumper, lower numbers must be removed.
